Shannon Meilak - Advocate<p>An incredible day yesterday at Bunjil’s Marroun Healing Ceremony. After engaging in a smoking ceremony, we heard some amazing yarns from Nicky Winmar, Uncle Charles Pakana, and Uncle Bill Nicholson, followed by music from David Arden and band. Uncle Charles even shared an intimate moment with Samhain (my dog) and I feel strongly that they connected on a spiritual level over shared trauma.</p><p>Special thanks to Moonee Valley City Council for hosting this incredible event and to Councillors Jones, Iser, Adams, and Cosgriff for taking time to meet/catch-up with me and working with me to strengthen partnerships between Brimbank and Moonee Valley. Shout out to Jo Briskey who also came and introduced herself to me and was keen to hear about my local advocacy in Brimbank.</p><p><a href="https://aus.social/tags/alwayswasalwayswillbe" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>alwayswasalwayswillbe</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/alwayswasalwayswillbeaboriginalland" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>alwayswasalwayswillbeaboriginalland</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/indigenous" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>indigenous</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/blacklivesmatter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>blacklivesmatter</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/invasionday" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>invasionday</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/DayOfMourning" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DayOfMourning</span></a></p>
