Again some old #Commodore64 #SidChip experiments, this time demonstrating the #MSSIAH cartidge and its software made to mimic early 1980 studio hardware. The cartridge has #midi in port, bundles a "bassline" app looking like a roland #TB303 , and also that "monosynth" app that looks like more a #minimoog -like analog mono synth. The thing is, the SID chip is actually exactly that ! (SID actually allow to use one voice as a LFO for another, astounding rarely used feature) and all the knobs here are literally the values you #poke into SID. Yes, really. Also, this was filmed with a 15€ CCTV fisheye PAL camera, that I'm used to #genlock with my #Amiga .

Anyone know someone in the sf bay area who could reliably fix my Amiga 3000? it shows signs of life but the VGA out is really funky and blossoms in a big blur (caps?) and some black scanlines. surprised it even syncs. this is a hail mary since I’m moving out of town in a few weeks and may sell it for parts if I can’t find someone.

To the #commodore #amiga bubble: What is the most powerful Amiga you are currently using?

This Type C111 is another one of our #classicCar #illustrations. Even when #AndyWarhol preferred this #MercedesBenz over the #Peugot 204, he ended up with a paint job on #BMW. You might think not bad for a screen printer like #Warhol, but he couldn't even paint onto his dream virtually on his #Commodore #Amiga 1000.

I've been meaning to write an #introduction post since joining a week ago, so here goes...

Hi, I'm Neil. I live in #Oxfordshire in the UK, and I've been into technology since about 1996 when I first learned how to program. Back then, I was using #AMOS on the #Amiga.

I moved to Windows next where I developed a fascination with IT management. I worked in education for a while, managing a network of 350 computers and 1300 users, dozens of printers, etc. I wrote software to make it all easier, and it was fantastic, and I loved that job.

Gradually, I moved into programming professionally, ruining it as a hobby. 🙄 By this point (2011), I was using C#, ASP.NET and all that jazz. Since I didn't want to program in my spare time any more, I dabbled in music (grade 4 piano), and I write indie books.

As technology gradually #enshittified, I started getting into Linux finally, and that brings us to the present day. I'm still writing in C# and ASP.NET, but also C and a few other languages. I'm rediscovering my love of "IT" again.

Also, I have two #dogs.
