Okay, here's my list in list form. I did 10 categories to get away from ranking them all though, so here's my 40ish "Top 10", with one category per toot. Bandcamp links are in blog post. :ablobdj:

Category 1: Most intense albums of the year

Rye – Всё (atmospheric black metal/blackgaze)

#JeremyDutcher – Motewolonuwok (neo-Indigenous/neoclassical)

#ANOHNI and the Johnsons – My Back Was A Bridge For You To Cross (pop soul/art pop)

#SufjanStevens – Javelin (indie)

#AOTY2023 #AOTY with apologies to Creeper, who were fifth, but then the new Crosses album really took hold of me over the last few weeks.

1. Grave Pleasures - Plagueboys
2. Teenage Wrist - Still Love
3. Heavenward - Pyrophonics
4. Spanish Love Songs - No Joy
5. Crosses - Goodnight, God Bless U, I Love U, Delete.

Of course, if you look at my Last.fm, my top seven most-listened-to albums for the past year are all Silversun Pickups and Brutus from pre-2023 😄

In this thread, I'll be listing my top twenty albums of the year, a mini review of each, and my three favourite songs (in no order) to listen to as tasters of each album.

The list exclusively features female vocalists, leans heavily towards pop, and, of course, is just my personal opinion.

I'll post a list just the names of the albums and artists at the end.

10) Colossal Squid - A Haunted Tongue
If you're into experimental drum shit, Adam Betts has some ideas. He does a lot of experimental stuff combining electric and analogue drums and effects pedals and stuff to become some sort of one-man space techno band. Musically the earlier solo stuff was a bit hit and miss but this album has really pulled the project together and I want to celebrate that here x
Genre: Drums as fuck
