Here is a collection of Apple II programs that offered an in-app backup utility to make exactly one protected backup of the master disk: <archive.org/details/wozaday?so>

There are at least six distinct implementations here. It was A Thing. I dissected the most famous of these (The Print Shop) here: <archive.org/download/ThePrintS>

Kansasfest, which was planned to return in Kansas this year, has been cancelled and replaced by an online-only event. The staff apologized and announced changes in the KF organization committee.

When the news of the location dropped, a lot of people from the Apple II/retro community announced they would not attend it anymore because of the recent Kansas anti-trans bills.
(KF took place in Illinois last year)

Thanks, Woz

Steve Wozniak, the co-founder of Apple, had some wonderful things to say about a couple of dirty, disgusting, fascists. Allow me to quote an article from Huffpost, written by Marco Margaritoff…..

While Steve Wozniak has long criticized the personality flaws of his late friend and Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, he has far more damning things to say about fellow tech mogul Elon Musk.

The 74-year-old entrepreneur shared his thoughts with CNBC on Tuesday at a tech conference in Spain.

“I don’t know what got into his head,” said Wozniak, referring to the Tesla CEO. “Sometimes you get so rich at these big companies, and you’re on top. It goes to your head, and you’re the most incredible person in the world and the brightest, and you’re gonna dictate what others will do.”

As a “special government employee” heading Donald Trump’s so-called Department of Government Efficiency, Musk has been dismantling federal agencies with the purported aim of slashing wasteful public spending.

This has led to thousands of federal workers being fired and legal pushback in the courts.

“Bullying is the best way to think of it,” Wozniak told CNBC. “If you’re in school, the bully’s gonna force their way on the little guy. I don’t know, I’ve always favored the little guy over the big guy — and I’ve always favored the consumer of a good over the producer.”

Wozniak had even harsher words for Trump, however.

“There are types of people that you associate with in your life that are good, pleasant, friendly and care about others, care about animals, even,” he told the outlet. “And Trump is not one of them. He’s a disgusting person and has always been and always will be.”

After the Supreme Court thwarted Trump and Musk’s efforts to freeze some $2 billion in foreign aid, Musk urged Republican senators on Capitol Hill to help him find another way to rescind that funding.

Democratic lawmakers resoundingly booed Musk Tuesday evening when Trump thanked him during his address to Congress.

Meanwhile, Wozniak also accused Musk of ruining his electric Tesla vehicles with steadily worsening designs. Wozniak, who invented the Apple I and Apple II computers, owns several Teslas himself.

“Every step up where they changed things in the car, it got worse and worse and worse, and now it is just miserable for user interface,” Wozniak told CNBC. “Coming from Apple, user interface, the way you deal with technology, is the most important thing in the world.”

He concluded, “And Tesla is the worst in the world at that.”

Thanks, Woz. You are the man. Now and forever, you are The Man.

This is one of the most incredible retrocomputing things I've seen.

The GRAFEX-32 video board for the Apple II, which offers 640x400 pixel, interlaced monochrome video output with drawing commands executed in hardware on its 2MHz NEC 7220.

But, if you chain four of the boards together, you get 16 colors (one bit per board).

This is quite possibly the first example of gfx SLI one could point to. Amazing! Strong work, @Jrobj

MastodonJrobj (@Jrobj@mastodon.social)Attached: 3 images Continuing my adventures with the Grafex-32 upd7220 graphics card for the Apple II. Finally worked out the issue with syncing multiple cards together. This is four cards running to produce 640x400 interlaced with 16 colors. 1 bit per card to achieve the 16 colors. Each 7220 performs the drawing for that bit of color.

It's been a couple years since I recovered the lost #AppleII educational game "Nosh Kosh." A Jewish take on Pac-Man, it was designed to teach kashrut.

But I've never been able to beat the first level. I had no idea what other levels might look like, or if the the game might have an ending.

I decided tonight would be the night. I stuck with it until I finally succeeded!

... And then the game crashed.

#Introduction

Greeting, I'm Sam. Basically I created this account and now access it via #Tor because I live in the US and fear for our safety, security, and privacy from our own government now. It's a disgrace.

I'm into old computers (#Retrocomputing) from the late 70s and early 80s, mostly #Commodore, #Atari, #Sinclair, #AppleII, (gotta specify the 'ii' else I'll get a bunch of modern apple junk), #Acorn, etc.

I know #BASICv2 and #6510ASM, along with modern #C, #Perl, #Pascal, etc. I've also wanted to relearn #Prolog (CP3...😜 )

I'm a straight male but I hope that doesn't matter as it doesn't matter to me what you are. I believe people deserve to live their lives, their way to be happy. No one is above others. It's when beliefs are pushed on others we have problems.

Thank you for taking the time to read this far and I guess I'm supposed to end with a "Like and subscribe", but I think here that means "Follow if you'd like". 😆

Presenting ... the first round of lab-made plotter pens for the Apple Color Plotter 410! CMYK, made in-house by me with my 3D printer and parts harvested from felt tip pens. I'm most impressed by how much sharper the test plot is compared to the worn nubs or even the nubs on the NOS pens that have broken down a bit over the years. I will be making these available as soon as I figure out how!
