When I saw a gorgeous knife in the hands of a local chef, I had to ask about it.

Turns out it was a custom-forged knife made by Tom Stegner, a knifesmith here in Kitchener! Needless to say, you *know* I wanted to talk (and write) about him for my CBCKW Food column

A bit of work yesterday at the forge.

I am making a fat bladed butter knife. I think. Not sure yet.

Went up the Sky Iron festival of blacksmithing today and ended up manning a stall and doing demos. Just a little grubby when I got home.

Made a fork at the forge.

Honestly, it's a little bit sporkly.

Now testing it on salad at dinner.

We will see how it does on mac-n-cheese.

(edit: It worked, needs a wider handle, didn't cut my tongue with it.)

Any makers here? Need a quick bit of writing knowledge from any craftspeople! What's something a potential customer might say that proves they don't understand your craft, and it's frustrating to hear it all the time?

e.g. For dice makers, it would be hearing someone ask "are they balanced?"

Took a break from building goat barn alpha to turn on the forge, first time in over a week. Had an excellent session where I shaped a pound and half of 5160 into a cleaver over 2 hours.
