When is a blog not a blog?

When it’s a page!

There are occasions when it’s great to get something written down online; something you can share with others, perhaps via email or social media.

Blogs are great for that, but what about something random — a post/comment/opinion that has no connection to your blog, or you want to keep it separate from your usual articles. Perhaps you don't have a blog but need somewhere to occasionally publish.

I’ve created just such a tool. It’s simply a blank page and you type whatever you want. Save it; share it. No login, No verification. No hassle. You’re not asked for any personal details to get published.

It’s not discoverable in any list of pages, so it's relatively private.

Extras

  • Optionally you can add a password, which means you have the ability to edit the page in the future.

  • You can also show the created date, and/or last updated date.

  • Write in markdown if you wish

What’s it called?

Verba Meaverbamea.com

Roughly translated as My Words in Latin.

You can also use it as justWords.page if you prefer. Both web addresses are interchangeable, but I think VerbaMea is more snappy.

Who did this?

Me! I’ve had the idea for years, brewing in my head of many thoughts . I even coded it some years ago. In the last few weeks I had a need for such a service, so I dusted it down, tidied up the edges, and made it live for everyone to enjoy. I’ve had the name for years in my head too.

Oh, and Me is David - Forking Mad. You will find me around the internet, via my Forking Mad blog, or as @daj being sociable and chatty on the Fediverse.

And Go

What’s stopping you. Get writing and sharing your thoughts on anything, with anyone you wish.

Bookmark it for later use.

And here's this post on VerbaMea: https://verbamea.com/25237146cb

Okay, this is a bit scary: I'm testing GoGuestReply for the first time.

It enables registration-free guest comments (e.g. for websites), powered by the Fediverse. Strictly on an opt-in basis of course.

If you'd like to try it, go to this URL: https://reply.kedara.social/form?fediurl=https%3A%2F%2Fkedara.social%2F%40kedara_eu%2Fstatuses%2F01K0M3W7V5251YN0Y9QHASJRD9

I have no idea how it'll handle any kind of load / abuse / etc. so please be kind. If it's bad, I'll disable it - but I hope it works out. Feedback is welcome here or via https://codeberg.org/kedara/goguestreply

To learn more about how it's supposed to work, see https://kedara.eu/goguestreply

If you own a computing device outright, you should be able to make any level of software modification you desire. hardware manufacturers should not be allowed to absolutely restrict distribution of software to their own channels under the guise of safety.

Today, on my #blog, I'm reflecting about what ACPI state S0ix (aka s2idle) means for the nature (and evolution) of laptops. It's been an interesting piece to research as I was totally unaware of the changes the PC platform had undergone since 2013 (when I bought my machine before the one I'm using right now).

been wondering about this lately and wanted to ask if others have been thinking about this too (take two).

what does the indie web need the most right now? if that’s kinda hard to answer, to phrase it in another way: if you could snap your fingers and add one of these to the #indieweb, which do you think would have the biggest positive impact?

Danke, @net_gremlin 🙏
