When Ramos arrived at her house, he cried & pointed at the peeling pnt -he'd wanted to give his mother a more decent house -one of his reasons for going to the US. At #CECOT💔he'd ASKED THE GUARDS TO END HIS LIFE rather than force him to live that way any longer.

She’d become so weak over the previous 4 mos -I could barely make out her words “Thank you."

Trump/officials resp for this torture should be prosec to the full extent of the law.

"Half of America fetishizes and perseverates in its discontent over these sleights. How dare they make a movie where the fictional mermaid is a black girl! ...

This avalanche of trauma was piled onto him because the luckiest people in the history of the world were convinced that the immigrant down the street might eat their cat."

Miller writes,

"It’s hard not to contrast Andry’s mercy and forbearance with the small, sad grievances that dominate America’s political life today. Our current regime is powered by anger at a hundred perceived sleights: too many brown people at Harvard; a book with gay penguins; a swimmer who didn’t get the 4th place trophy she felt she deserved; having less than the Joneses."

Tim Miller offers a video clip of a conversation he had with Andry Hernández Romero, the gay Venezuelan makeup artist consigned by the Trump administration to torture and sexual abuse at CECOT.

Miller notes the grace and forbearance Andry is able to show even his tormentors, contrasting that with the outlook and behavior of Americans for whom Trump is a savior.

Meanwhile, a comparison of the documents covering #ElSalvador shows the #Trump admin downplaying the country’s history of #prison #violence, emphasizing that there has been a reduction overall while stating that purported deaths were under govt review. Trump has expressed fondness for El Salvador’s president, Nayib #Bukele, & hosted him in the Oval Office earlier this year after the admin secured an agreement to deport people to the country’s notorious #CECOT megaprison.

"We found a dozen or so had criminal records abroad and included those in our comprehensive database, too.

Nearly half, 118 of the more than 230 men, including [Juan José Ramos] Ramos, came to the U.S. legally and were deported in the middle of their immigration cases."

Pro Publica reports on the men the US government sent to CECOT hell:

"Our reporting, a first-of-its-kind, case-by-case examination, shows how the government knew a majority of them had not been convicted of a crime in the U.S. — and only a few had serious convictions such as assault and gun possession."

"So too did members of Congress in both parties. News organizations reported on conditions at the prison within days. We all knew what would happen to these men. ...

What do we owe him, and the 250 others who were thrown into that hellhole? The question is not just should he be apologized to and compensated for being a victim of this national shame, but how, and by whom?"

This was the Trump administration's basis for kidnapping, torture, imprisonment, etc.:

"On his way out of the building, an immigration agent stopped him and asked about his tattoos. He has several of them, including a blue rose, a father hugging his son behind railroad tracks and a clock showing the time his mother was born."
