I'm starting to have an issue with the phrases "#joining Mastodon", or "#posting to Mastodon". It's not really what you're doing.

- You join an instance, it just happens to be running #Mastodon
- The protocol you communicate through is #ActivityPub, via Mastodon's UI (and may not even be running the Mastodon backend, like with #Pleroma )
- The thing you're actually #communicating with is the #Fediverse (or #Federation , depending on which documentation you're reading)

Saying you're joining Mastodon is like saying you're sending a #Gmail , or surfing the #Comcast , or catching up on your #Roku.

I do agree, though, that we should keep #tooting our #toots, because #toot just sounds adorable
