If you want to do a bit of good and help out some kids heading back into the social-snakepit known as public school:
Have a look on the free sites in your community (e.g Facebook market place, Kijiji, Craigslist, etc). There are bound to be desperate parents on there looking for school supplies, backpacks, b2s clothing, etc.
We stumbled upon a father looking for shoes, backpack and some pants for his teen son. We're pretty broke, but we managed to scrape together several pairs of pants, shirts, a backpack, and we found a great pair of sneakers for $20 and picked those up for them.
I grew up poor and remember all too well the dread of the first day when you don't have anything cool to wear :(
It's disheartening to see such measures being considered. Policies need to focus on compassion and support for our unhoused community, not labeling them as a "public nuisance." We need solutions that uplift everyone, not just a select few. Let's call for more humane approaches and work towards real, lasting change. #CommunityFirst #CompassionatePolicy #lawfedi

Can a Big Village Full of Tiny Homes Ease Homelessness in Austin?
One of the nation’s largest experiments in affordable housing to address chronic homelessness is taking shape outside the city limits.
From Kathleen Ageton, a Maui resident and librarian, and our esteemed friend:
"One way you can help in this time of devastation on Maui is to delay visiting our island. Instead, please send your prayers, love and donations to those who are suffering."—Hawaiʻi Community Foundation's Maui Strong Fund: https://www.hawaiicommunityfoundation.org/maui-strong

Would you support a group of friends and neighbors polling their money into a single donation, and using it to negotiate with a politician to change their agenda?
You have a unique opportunity to create a lasting legacy that will shape the future of the world. By putting forth your ideas, you can make a difference and inspire others to do the same. Begin with simple acts of kindness and compassion, and use your voice to spread a message of hope. As you create positive change in individual lives, your ripple effect will extend beyond what you may ever imagine.
