Sorry for the rant- but yesterday really did feel like my agency leadership is either completely inept, disingenuous, or both.We had our “all hands spring townhall” yesterday where the staff was introduced to our new senior “leadership”. Throughout it (minus 1 guy from the SF office) it was “all is well, we’re fucking pumped to be here, nothing to see, nothing big going on.”At one point, the DAS said “ignore the fake media- they really don’t know what’s happening” but during the “Q&A” session he states “we don’t know, we have no idea when the RIF notices will come, we have no idea what offices are being closed, we have no real operational control over our own websites anymore, but y’all need to just smile and nod. We’re “leadership” but cannot give you any answers nor any assurances we will advocate for our agency’s mission or the people doing it.There will be cake following this in the auditorium” (only applied to people in HQ, in DC.)I got so mad at being dismissed, gaslit, and lied to I said “FUCK YOU” loud enough that the room heard me (we were via Teams, so only our local audience heard it.) “Do more with less” is a great policy of EVERYONE has to do more with less. After the townhall, the leadership went down and celebrated the unveiling of Ben “where’s my luggage?”Carson’s painting in the lobby. But we’ve been doing more with less than ever before- we are chronically understaffed, the staff we do have is aging out, demoralized, or will likely be terminated as soon as the RIF is announced. My boss pulled me in after the meeting and told me that it was unprofessional and that they’re already trying to manage the boiling political undercurrent in our office (I’m guessing between the LAMF folks and the rest of us).I had to take a day away from my office for a “mental health day” today so I can try to pull myself together enough to want to go back and play the game with them on Monday.More than ANYTHING else, I would like this administration to hit with a straight bat. If you’re going to fucking do it, do it so we, as people, can plan for our next steps to cover our families and personal responsibilities.

Grieving for our country. Just grief.
Probably accepting DRP 2.0. Taking sick leave today and through next week since we don't get paid out for it. Meaning yesterday was my last day at my dream job. My boss said it's like taking the last lifeboat off the Titanic. I want to hold the line but the reality is getting fired next week the moment the DRP deadline passes. If there's a government left standing it will be because good people stayed. And I'm walking away. How can I look myself in the mirror? I feel like I'm abandoning the country I love. But it's like quitting with a gun to my head. I'm just so sad. Solidarity to you all. We don't deserve what has happened.

I work for an agency under DHS. For the most part we have been "exempt" from RIFs and ineligible for any DRPs. I've been watching in horror at my fellow feds being affected so drastically this spring, but other than uncertainty (and RTO) we have remained largely untouched.Until now.I came in to work this morning with this message from my supervisor:"if you get a request to provide access to someone from DOGE, just give them access. The information I was given is that we are not to ask questions and just provide the access. I have little context as well. Someone was almost walked out yesterday for asking questions."The chill that has entered my body is unreal. I didn't really understand how so much havoc could be wrecked without complicity, and why were people being complicit??I work in IT. I'm also a lesbian. That may doxx me (I hope not) but I have a wife and a kid on the way at home and we can't afford to lose this job. I have no where else to go, both my and my wife's family has disowned us for being married.I have a life full of fear. Fear of being hurt or rejected or persecuted for being gay. But the absolute fury I have at being told to "just provide access" is surpassing all my self preservation instincts. "Don't ask questions"
