spooksie 👻if we're put on earth to like "learn lessons" or whatever (a concept i'm very skeptical of), then one of those concepts i learned very early on is that you can't trust your family (of origin, at least).it's funny, my parents tried to instill in me that people are fundamentally untrustworthy (a pretty typical attitude among former soviets, imo), that they'll screw you over or abandon you in the end, etc. etc.i never did quite believe them on that (and i had to get a fricken cultural anthropology degree to really discover for myself 'what people are like'), and ever since i got far, far away from them, i've met plenty of wonderful people who i trust.the funny part is how they were telling on themselves by saying "people aren't trustworthy." what i really learned growing up under their roof is that THEY aren't trustworthy. unfortunately it poisoned my ideas of family entirely (because the only experience i had of family was with these deeply miserable untrustworthy people), but decades later, i can say that i have found family who i trust (after loads and loads and LOADS of personal work and recovery).<a href="https://tilde.zone/tags/family" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#family</a> <a href="https://tilde.zone/tags/CPTSD" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#CPTSD</a> <a href="https://tilde.zone/tags/trust" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#trust</a>
