By no means everybody’s favourite spring crop, I know, but they are striking after a grey winter, they smell good, & the pollinators love them – there were bees buzzing all over this field.

Big drop in temperature today, as a cold front swept in from the north – about 10°C colder than yesterday, but still sunny.
If anything, better for my 58km ride to the edge of Mannheim & back, as I haven’t switched to summer gear yet

My bike and I are exploring the “commune” next to ours, hoping to reach 90% (of all roads, tracks and paths).
Just had to explain to a man what I was doing after he warned me this track wasn’t going anywhere. He was duly impressed.
Doing the final bits of an area can be frustrating (often non-existent, overgrown, muddy tracks etc), but it can also be fun. I’m always hoping for a treasure in a dead end. Sometimes there is, in the form of a field with cute cows, horses or sheep.
Residential cul-de-sacs are also interesting cuz people feel more “private” there so you can see all the shit they leave outside their houses. OR the obscenely huge houses they built.
All that to say, cycling is great!!! 
And give Wandrer.earth a try if you wanna discover hidden gems (in a systematic fashion).

A 51km ride to Heddesheim 
“Hey, can’t you see that I’m busy here?” 
Spotted this peregrine falcon in the fields north-west of Heidelberg during today’s 51km ride. It was beside a bike path eating lunch & actually seemingly fairly happy to let people stop & watch – I got within a couple of metres
Was still there an hour later as I was heading home – must’ve been quite some size of prey

Another nice evening glimpse of #Mercury & #Venus in the dusk sky, this time looking west along the Neckar from the Alte Brücke in #Heidelberg.
Venus is brighter to the upper right; Mercury is along a diagonal to the left & down from there, just above the thin clouds.
As seen near the end of today’s 55km cycle – sunny & warm for early March, but chilling rapidly after sunset. I also found some Bärlauch (wild garlic) out towards Ladenburg

I just applied a ceramic hydrophobic coating to my bike, mostly as an experiment to see if it actually does something. I'm quite meticulous when it comes to cleaning my bike and I'm hoping this stuff will make it a bit easier (in a perfect world I would only need to hose off my bike and road grime would come flying off).
It was pretty easy to apply (it's a gel, not a spray).
