I've just worked out that whoever coded the calendar I've been using (for my secondary world) got their maths wrong. They start the calendar from year 0, but take start day from year 1. It means that everything is out by a day (possibly more once leap years are calculated).

I like simple breakfasts, usually just cereal, but I like to switch it up once and a while. Today was some Iraqi bread (can't remember the name) with labne, olive oil, and zatar along with cardamom coffee and some dates. The dates are super fresh and local (well, < 300 mi away) and the best I've ever had!

confusing, given that AD starts counting at 1, like all non-programmers do. Maybe year 0 came after year i (square root of minus 1)

On 23 July, 2006, my oldest son, Ryan, deployed to SW Asia, called me. His vehicle was in a convoy on its way to Mosul, where I’d been in 2004.
Despite being just weeks from coming home, the kid volunteered for the mission because, he said, he wanted to see some of what I’d seen in northern Iraq. Then, he had to go and said “I love you, dad.” Those were the last words my oldest son ever said to me. A little more than a week later, Ryan was KIA.
