A little trivia about TNG’s Devil’s Due” - The initial idea for this episode was developed way back in the TOS-era of the mid ‘60s. The idea was developed into a script for the planned “Phase II” TV series of the ‘70’s.

When the Hollywood writer’s strike of 1988 occurred, this script was reused and updated to TNG and it became “Devil’s Due”. There are similarities between Picard taking down Ardra and what Kirk did in TOS to Landru, M-5, Nomad and others.
