Oh my goodness look at this puppy I get to train! He is adorable, and very excited to learn new things. He will be a joy for his owner, especially once he gets past the typical puppy behaviors like jumping and mouthing.

Looking for #DogTraining advice.
Maple walks loose leash with me, but if anyone else walks her she grabs the leash in her mouth and tugs it very hard.
She's 6 months old and 45lbs.
She doesn't do this with me and I'm unsure how to address it.
Thanks
Had an interesting discussion with some peers about the pros and cons of dog head/nose halters like the “Gentle Leader”. Some viewed those as an unacceptable use of force. Others said they were a valuable aid to disabled handlers. Different stances came up about “how they work” in training, and what (if anything) the dog actually learns when we pull their nose. I argued for using halters as management only (neutral, loose leash), in parallel with more effective force-free #DogTraining. #dogs

Always enjoy watching Crufts but the Rescue Dog Agility is a highlight every year. Lovely to see the dogs enjoying life and having some fun.
Little Miss Bella proved a lot of personality can fit in a tiny body. Never a dull moment working with this ball of energy. #TrainingMemories #dogs #dogsofmastodon #jackrussels #littledog #personality #SouthAustralia #dogtraining #Positivetraining
Always helpful Jasper. He never missed a chance to help pack up his activities at the end of the session.
They're so cute when they're calm...
Later on after this picture was taken, the puppy decided that a fun thing to try out is to literally flying leap from the couch onto the top of the coffee table. That earned a time out. =_=
Lil was a special one, she started training earlier than most, and was one of the dogs who inspired my early puppy video course.
So other pups like Lil can learn and get a safe head start at home before their vaccinations.
after three(!) years(!) of hard work to reduce #worldDogStar's dog reactivity, she earned her #canineGoodCitizen title last night (along with her novice #trickDog title).
Paddy the Irish mutt, 'middle' training is coming along so well, that every time he is behind me, this happens. It nearly is becoming a hazard when walking around the place.
i'm hosting another dog walk on saturday, february 22nd in #raleighNC if anybody would like to attend. our last walk lasted 45-60 minutes and we practiced ignoring the other dogs.

I am so glad I left the first canine search team I joined.
I just found a puppy Edraith video in the archives of an early run with them. She found really nicely, even alerted (she was *only four months old* and already building alert) but because, "once your dog starts coming to alert, they never get rewarded by the hider, only you" meant that there was ZERO value for the hider - aka 'missing person'.
This meant that although she had a wonderful find - alert chain, there was zero refind, because a) she had no idea what to do and b) no point in taking me back to a person who isn't rewarding her anyway. The entire thing started to break down within weeks; and this argument along with a few others I was having with the team leads meant I quit.
About 18 months later we found a new team, and after undoing a bunch of bad habits that were created due to simple lack of reinforcement, rebuilding the alert, and then properly chaining in the refind, we did succeed!
All this to say: the answer for "To reward or not to reward?" the answer is always YES - reward!
If you like something, reward it!
