Die Blauflügel-Prachtlibelle ist vor allem an schnell fließenden, beschatteten und kalten Bächen und Flüssen, die mindestens 40 cm breit sind, zu finden. Ihre Eier legt die Libelle nur in Fließgewässern ab. Die Larven halten sich zwischen Wasserpflanzen und Wurzeln auf. Ab und an findet man sie aber auch auf Treibgut, unter Steinen, auf Totholz und an unterspülten Ufern. V.a. die Larven leiden unter der Verschmutzung und Verbauung der Gewässer. Um die Larven und somit die gesamte Art zu erhalten, ist der Erhalt und die Wiederherstellung naturnaher Abschnitte von Fließgewässern sehr wirksam.

Back in late June I did a day-trip to #Wales, specifically to the border with #Shropshire at #Whixall Moss which is the only site in Wales or in southern England for White-faced Darter #dragonfly.
