"To be silent" is one of the Powers of the Sphinx, and it is often interpreted to mean that secrecy in occultism is encouraged. But I think secrecy is only one part or manifestation of silence. Secrecy isn't my primary goal; instead, I try to cultivate an inner silence. Human language and perception are so limited that it's only in that sea of silence that everything makes sense.
