Good morning, friends. 🐶☕☕

13 December 2024

Thank goodness it is Friday; I can get up tomorrow morning and the same thing I did this morning. Well ... I hope not, because I slept late this morning and all was going well then, I rounded the corner where I could see the family room and boom there it was, Charlie left something for me to cleanup. I have the tools to do a proper job, but as soon as I wake up, please! But Charlie is my friend, so I do what friends do and accept the bad things along with the good. Ben slept under our bed last night so, he was immune from prosecution. Taking care of dogs is often like taking care of a toddler.

I don't give Christmas presents to many people outside my family. I like it that way -- it appeals to my anti-consumerism -- but there is one friend with whom I always exchange gifts and even though she has a lot of cool interests, I don't always know what to get her.

I'm conscious of adding to clutter when I know she's working on minimising that, plus we don't live close to each other so I have to send the gift. And we are of the age (and indeed the privilege) where we have most of what we need.

Watering the garden this morning, I had a thought: herbs. I have several growing in the garden, and I could dry some, bag them up and send them to her so she can use them in cooking or tea. I'm so excited about this idea :)

My friend @bungle has put out a video essay about the show Friends, and Judaism, and the intersection of the two. The video is funny, it's thoughtful, it's provocative, all while being charming and unassuming.

Everyone needs to watch this, whether you're Jewish, a fan of the show Friends, a fan of philosophy, or you just like awesome video essays.

From this article: Trump voters realize that their votes have consequences for their relationships with friends:

“I won’t pass the turkey to someone who supports a party that targets disabled people or takes away reproductive rights.

I won’t sit by the Christmas tree celebrating Jesus while so many are at risk of losing their lives because they can’t get needed care.

I won’t unwrap gifts from people who voted for a party that talked about internment camps.”
