History will not reflect kindly on the #UK's #MetropolitanPolice making the largest number of arrests of innocent people, in a single day, in modern-history, for...

... wait for it ...

... holding up cardboard signs.

Can you imagine being arrested for what amounts to a
thought crime, in the UK, in 2025?

@BenjaminHCCarr

The children in my neighborhood do love to ride their bikes. But the speed limit, through our neighborhood is 35 MPH. 20 is plenty. It's dangerous and this last year I've seen very few children riding their bikes, where a serious prior they were lots of kids on bikes. We petitioned the city to drop the speed limit. They said they would need to run a $10,000 study and then the police chief said he might even raise our speed limit to 55 if we did that. #FTP

Following Yvette Cooper's diktat this week, I'm unable to give my thoughts on these protesters and their stance.

However for anyone not anti-police - "The group [REDACTED] is now proscribed and expressing support for them is a criminal offence."

Maybe your cause, or even personal identity, will fit into that statement next - and all cops won't give a fuck what or who is rounded up once the order is given.

@IveyJanette I agree. But again isn't there another way to do that then to gawk at people without their consent?

I don't think youtube and tiktok are burying your show. Frankly, it's not good.

Hoping for some kind of positive change from elections is fool's errand. Energy better spent doing #mutualaid

I invite you to join #JBBC on 1st street under the coal bridge at 9a tomorrow, no camers #FTP

I have someone asking me to help with a PolaRx5 #GNSS that can only send observations (via satellite) using FTP (!). No one here at #UVic wants to set up an #FTP server. I don't want to. It would be attacked relentlessly.

Apparently the device can be polled from here over ssh: it's not going to have static IP. The user is going to use #Starlink (not my choice). Does dynamic DNS work with that service?

Battery power at the site limits options quite a bit as well.

Suggestions? Ideas?

How do you handle automatic deployments of file bundles (e.g. a static website) when you only have #FTP access to the target host? It seems there is no easy/good way to only deploy changed/updated files through hashsum comparison?! #webdev #devops

Hey Linux friends. Is there a better graphical FTP program than Filezilla?

I'm finding Filezilla to be increasingly buggy, and I need something I can use with drag & drop & synchronised browsing.

What's a good replacement that you've *personally* used?

(Anyone telling me to use the command-line will be fired into a dark pit of scorpions. The scorpions have already eaten the people who say "here's the first result from a search query.")

Thanks to our #TurrisSentinel #security #research program, #CZNIC #CSIRT team discovered large scale #FTP #attack. Coming from 45.78.4.0/22, it is #bruteforcing #slowly - it takes it 19 day to get through it's #passwords. Big thanks to everybody who helps us by running our #minipots on their devices! Report in #Czech is available on CSIRT website csirt.cz/cs/kyberbezpecnost/ak

@paulc @mastodonmigration @JonChevreau @caregivers Making sure you saw this, Paul. You too, @CindyWeinstein. While this article and research is about frontotemporal, and a test for early detection, on this type of dementia so much of the experience carries across other neurological conditions. From what I’ve read, the #FTP is even more difficult. Actually, many caregivers of a dependent adult with severe and late stage conditions face similar challenges. I’m still so glad I read that book for caregivers, by Kiper, Travellers to Unimaginable Lands: Dementia, Carers and the Hidden Workings of the Mind.
