JoyIf you only know Isaac Hayes from his celebrated soundtrack to Shaft, prepare for 16 minutes of mesmeric funkiness. Joy is one of his long-form soul masterpieces, and has a wonderful late night funky grooviness. Alternating between sparseness & lush sections I just love the symphonic ambition of the track, its great rhythmic syncopation & the use of the strings & horns for punctuation.
