Winson Green and the village of Smethwick straddle the boundary of Birmingham and what was then Staffordshire, bordering Soho where Matthew Boulton had his manufactory, where James Watt built early steam (beam) engines ... teeming with stuff of industrial archaeology ... and the Chance Brothers Glassworks making lighthouse lenses.</p><p>Others have done far better research on that than I could ever!</p>
#genchat 🦣<p>Sometimes, chasing a bright shiny object answers a research question you didn't know you had.<br>Recently, I found a deed granted by my 5th gr-grandfather to his son...but not one of the 2 sons I knew about. So I had to figure out if it was indeed my 5th GGF.<br>Well, I'd found a prior deed for that very land that I knew *was* granted for that ancestor.
