#Geoscientists analyze rocks in mountain belts to reconstruct how they once moved downwards into the depths and then returned to the surface. This history of burial and exhumation sheds light on the mechanisms of plate #tectonics and #mountain building.

On the #dansk GEUS portal there's a lot of information on the survey that created this borehole. It was a combined geologic and drinking water (for deep water aquifers) survey.

I looked at it with a friend who's a environmental consultant. However I am still lost on why spectral gamma data was collected from each parallel borehole. I guess one can use it to determine clay / minerals / salt composition. But is it used for a broader purpose?

Any #geoscientists / #earthscience people here?
