I coated a bunch of the good tubes I had around, re stretching the ones with thick ends, before cleaning, and then dumping in my liquid phosphor lacquer so it would flow down half the tube, then letting it dry.
On solid color tubes I use a shop vac along with a 3d printed vacuum to glass tube adaptor to make an apparatus where you can suck the phosphor out of the jar by placing it beneath the tube and putting your finger over a hole in the glass adaptor (blocking the opening) . So the phosphor gets sucked up the tube, then you remove your finger when it gets to the top and it falls back down into the jar.

I used up all of those nice mixes. I am excited to mix more to coat the tubes we make on Monday. I already ordered more solvents. Then I wanna rent a kiln to bake a bunch out at once.

I am very excited for that Gold Pink! Gold turns glass pink. In pursuit of the pinkest pink neon, I am backing the pink glass with pink :)

I made a sample tube today after just one day of spinning the jars of solventy phosphor lacquer. Oh goody is this a nice mix!

The pink is really nice- the white I messed up by running air through it too soon- the air blows the goop around like that. I used a puffy ribbon burner flame to burn off the cellulose - the tube goes all black and then goes all white again over the course of about 6 minutes.

I wanna make a bunch and then rent a big long kiln... overnight- the smoke is stinky and not good to breathe.
I made two new colors though! I might add a little more red to the pink to boost it up a little and get a little more powder in there, but I am excited to coat a few colored glass tubes hopefully tomorrow.

These mixes are nice for sucking up a tube- but I want to pour it in straight- then bend it so the inside of the circle is pink and the outside is warm white.
Further tests are necessary!

From the Glass Art Society closing party last night- I got 99 people to hold hands and complete the circuit to activate our "Your Magic Is Real" sculpture! Alicia Eggert was there and was excited- me too- what a fun time!

Its crazy just how far a 3 or 5 volt signal can go- but I guess people really are a lot of conductive water. I am wondering how we can find the theoretical maximum amount of people holding hands to activate the sculpture? Could we perhaps get it to a music festival or something? Coachella? We might need more neon :)

The conference was so fun! Nice to connect with so many old friends - and meet so many new ones! Future apologies to everyone's name that I will forget and have already forgotten ;)

I guess I have emails to send now...

I mentioned in a post last week that I had some big news to share. Here it is: I'm moving to Las Cruces, New Mexico, and will permanently reside there. Las Cruces has a thriving arts scene and art markets, and will allow me to earn good income from my work while in retirement. There may be a pause for a while as I get settled. Until then, enjoy the end of Spring!
