Do anti-AI tools for art like #glaze and #nightshade even do that well against AI?
Tbh, I haven't seen much progress as far as those tools go.
also please boost so I can have better reach

New blog post about the latest AI bullshit from Pinterest and Skillshare, how to get your images off Pinterest, and a reminder about how to protect your artwork against AI:
Hi #Admins ,
Can you give me quotes that explain your fight against #AIScraping? I'm looking for (verbal) images, metaphors, comparisons, etc. that explain to non-techies what's going on. (efforts, goals, resources...)
I intend to publish your quotes in a text on @campact 's blog¹ (DE, German NGO).
The quotes should make your work visible in a generally understandable way
Liebe #Admins ,
für meine @campact -Kolumne¹ suche ich #Techies, die der Welt da draußen den fight #Admins vs. #KIScraping erklären. Mit welchen Bildern, Metaphern, Vergleichen beschreibt ihr, was da abgeht? (Zeitaufwand, Sinn, Ressourcen, Tools…)
Die Zitate sollen allgemeinverständlich eure Arbeit sichtbar machen.

Some good news, finally! Glaze & Nightshade works!
OpenAI Describes Artists' Use of Glaze & Nightshade as "Abuse"

This video mostly presented topics/facts with which I'm already familiar, but they did it in a really accessible format that I think is worth watching:
"making poisoned art to punish AI thieves"
I'd really like to run more of my images through Glaze before posting, but it's ridiculously slow, even on the lowest settings. #Glaze
I made these! This fall, I've been taking a Beginning Wheelthrowing class for the first time ever! And I absolutely love it. Here are just a few of my creations—I'm so proud of how they turned out!

Usen #Nightshade y #Glaze siempre!

It's #WIP Friday! Quick question: just how funky does this look? I¡m experimenting with Nightshade (as I believe we all should to some extent), and the settings here seem to be a bit OTT. You tell me! #illustration #digitalart #nightshade #glaze #fantasy #naturalintelligence
By the way, A.I. isn't some all knowing God program. It's a series of algorithms. Complex algorithms, yes, but algorithms nonetheless.
Algorithms are a series of steps and choices that a computer follows to produce an outcome.
Yes, neural networks, machine learning, LLMs and all those buzz words that have been bastardized by Marketing, they're all algorithms at their base.
A.I. is nothing without humans leaching data from other humans.
I'm not a software developer or data engineer. I just know IT and read a LOT about this field of technology (Computer science, algorithms, I'm working on machine learning gradually.)
I'm an artist, bruh.
But it will be ok.
A.I. still has trouble completely emulating the 'human touch'. (Reverse Turing test, anyone? )
And researchers are always working.
If this thread has helped any, please retoot.
What to do about protecting your artwork online?
Keep doing what you're doing! Keep Glazing, keep posting low resolution artwork, you can still use signatures/watermarks, and don't post tons of your artwork to places out in the open.
And wait for Glaze and other apps to update versions.
It's just like protecting your device against malware and hackers. Update your software, patch programs, don't click on sketchy things and wait!
In cybersecurity, hackers/threat actors look for vulnerabilities in the code of a program (or other). They then exploit that vulnerability to push through malware and such.
That's similar to what's happening with Glaze. Pro-A.I. people probably reverse engineered the app in order to see how it works and updated their AI algorithms to try and defeat Glaze and scrape your artwork.
Digital technology is like an arms race.
So what to do?
Hiii if you aren't familiar with me, I am your local IT artist.
So, there are rumors that the Glaze algorithm, the program that helps protect your art/photos against use by A.I, has been cracked by pro A.I. folks.
Don't panic.
Researchers were saying that it was only a matter of time before the Glaze algorithm was cracked. That's what happens in cybersecurity too!
What do you do? You wait for the next "patch"! We do this all the time for our computers!
There's been some action on the AI Image front. Read about the latest attempts to thwart the Glaze tool, and Glaze's response here:
