#import : especially, to bring (wares or merchandise) into a place or country from a foreign country, in the transactions of commerce

Is this real?
Does this sound real? If a US company ships to Canada expecting the customer to pay tariffs & they don’t, the US company gets hit with tariffs just to receive the return??

“So the weirdest thing happened, I had received an email from #UPS stating that they have a package that needs to be returned back to us because a customer in #Canada who ordered from us flat out refused to pay the usual custom fees & duties plus the #tariff costs. Even I thought the amount sounded outrageous and someone was lying so I contacted the customer and she stated they wanted an additional $100 for the products and she didn’t realize how much or how high the costs were due to the tariffs and proceeded to ask us for a refund. I said even though we never allow refunds on cosmetics, we will make an exception this one time minus all the shipping costs and fees if any. I proceeded to call ups and tell them to go ahead and return the package back to us and we approve UPS to go back into our account again and take the return shipping fee this time around for $38 “Return Shipping Costs” to the USA, I explained to ups that we are going to get our money back through the customers refund. The UPS Rep said, “I hope her refund is big enough to cover all cost because $38 is just for the return shipping, we Will also Need the #customs fees, duty taxes & any #import #fees for this box to be shipped back to The United States”.. Total costs: $169 - I couldn’t believe it and said this is something I’ve never experienced or had to deal with in the 7 years I’ve been in business shipping worldwide! So I told UPS to just keep it or Destroy it! At the end it was not worth us paying out all that money to Ship these two little skincare items back to the USA that were worth $50 bucks Each. I explained to the customer there is no zero funds being returned to her and after all fees have been calculated, we would have owed her five dollars for a refund if that. so refusing the package is the worst thing you can do cause now you are out the money and the products just like we are.”

TechInsights: If The Average #US #Import #Tariff Rate Remains Sticky At 40 Percent, The Global #Semiconductor Market Will Shrink By A Third In 2026
#China remains subject to a punitive 145 percent import levy. TechInsights finds that the global semiconductor market would shrink by 10% to $696 billion in 2025, and to $557B in 2026, which represents a plunge of around 34% vs. the $844 billion market size projected under the base case scenario of a 10% global tariff.

So it does look like the TypeScript language server has a limit of 4MB source size where it disables type checking (and actually shows an erroneous error stating that exports that exist in the file do not exist) for files that are imported but not open in the current workspace/session.

Still not sure if this is documented anywhere or not (haven’t been able to find it, if it is).

99.99999% of the time, unless you’re doing niche stuff like I am, you won’t run into this.

Workaround: should you have such a large file, e.g., with a large generated object, try and refactor to split it up into multiple files and rejoin it a separate file. The actual object size/memory usage isn’t the issue, it’s the file size.

The potential to more than double the scope of #Trump’s #tariffs has alarmed economists & some congressional #Republicans, while other WH allies are concerned about the logistical challenges of a complicated new #import #tax regime. The precise nature of these new duties has spurred extensive discussions at the highest levels of the admin, w/VP #JDVance, #Commerce Secy #HowardLutnick, WH aide #PeterNavarro & #Treasury Secy #ScottBessent all playing a role in the talks….
