Hey Mastodon, my name is Dana! I have a passion for video games, reading, and working to make the world a better place; for myself and all generations to follow.
I work for a non-profit called Jennifer Ann's Group. Our mission is to prevent teen dating violence through awareness, education, and advocacy. Part of how we accomplish this is by creating video games to help teach teens about key protective factors and building healthy relationships. I graduated with a bachelors degree in Esports Management and have been working to spread awareness about our Gaming Against Violence program.
We also support developers in our annual game jam!
Let's connect, I'd love to meet other like-minded individuals!

Hello Comics Camp! :) I'm Cryo, formerly co-creator of Drugs & Wires, currently drawing vaguely Prohibition themed comedy strips about my new OCs. I guess now that I'm drawing comics again this place should be a great fit #intro

allow me to reintroduce myself!

I'm a librarian focusing on research reproducibility + research data management.
I gave an interview about me/my work a while ago that is honestly still relevant: acrl.ala.org/dh/2018/04/04/rep

I love FOSS, open access, open educational resources, open EVERYTHING

I hate the corporate capture of scholarship

I am a hobby and craft hoarder

I also love my husband @remram44 and our super cute black cat Little Boss 🐈

dh+lib · Data Librarianship: A Path and an EthicVicky Steeves is the Librarian for Research Data Management and Reproducibility at New York University - a dual appointment between NYU's Division of Libraries and Center for Data Science.

I haven't done a reintroduction since I joined Fedi, and I wouldn't mind meeting and following more people. Boosts welcome.

Hello, I go by Null! I am a programmer, avid reader, long-time Tabletop RPG (TTRPG) GM, anticapitalist, weird horror fan, aspiring (if shy) writer, and a long suffering fan of anime. I identify as agender even though I don't talk about it much. I also enjoy cooking, brewing, mushrooms, gardening, ravens, typewriters, and well... a little of everything. I just like to answer questions.

I generally post random observations, tabletop RPG experiences, political thoughts (CWed), news commentary, short anime reviews, and the like. Please feel free to drop in for a message or reply - I'm open to conversation. Also, do feel free to let me know if I commit any faux pas. I'm pretty open to good-faith commentary and it's important to me that people feel safe.

Things I am reading right now (I can't focus on one book for long so I rotate):

* Field Notes from a Fungi Forager by Ashley Rodriguez
* The Tramp Printers by Charles Overbeck
* Liquidated by Karen Ho.
* We'll Prescribe You a Cat by Syou Ishida

So... Let's be friends?

(New intro!) Hi everyone! :> I'm Hexaitos (or mostly just Hex), an (actual!) bateleur eagle from Germany ^v^

I'm interested in computers and I like tinkering with both software and hardware. I mainly use Linux or other *nix systems. I self-host a whole bunch of stuff as well. I also really like birds (obviously!), taking walks, learning languages and taking photos (mostly of, you guessed it, birds!). I also do a bit of gaming from time to time.

My actual job is working as a network and systems administrator for a small ISP which includes a lot screaming at computers when they inevitably don't do what I want them to.

I mostly post about random stuff I am working on (computer- or software-related things most of the time!), random photos (I take a lot of photos…) or other random ramblings! ^v^

I'm a bit shy but always open for a chat! Check out my website (hexaitos.com) if you want to send me a message!

Feral ref is by IndiWolf and anthro ref is by FaultyArts!

I am a technical expert on flash media and file systems, with 35 years experience in embedded designs. I am also a frequent speaker at conferences, including Flash Memory Summit and the Embedded World conference for the last 15 years. My strength is translating tough technical topics into easily accessible concepts that designers can immediately implement to solve daily challenges. I currently serve as the secretary of the #SDA (SD card association) board of directors.

New instance so new intro post time:

Hi! I'm Jack (they/them). I'm a nonbinary sociology nerd with a bunch of disabilities, a bunch of tattoos, and a degree in queer research/education/history.

I mostly post about things relating to queerness, disability/mental illness, neurodivergency, and my wonderful little family (which consists of my absurdly sweet butch wife, two adorable dogs, and sassy super senior cat).

I'm always happy to find new people to interact with/befriend/add to my community on here!

and... I have *still* not found a way to end an intro post that doesn’t feel super awkward so I'm just stick with having these tiny queer cats dance me out :blobcatrainbow: :blobcatrainbow: :blobcatrainbow:

:boost_rainbow:

A belated #introduction.

HI FEDIVERSE!!!

i am once again making an intro post to christen a new account, a new username, and the end of an era of my life!! so introduction once again

hi, my name is aen (he/him), i’m british-indian, almost finished with my masters degree in cyber security (specifically i wanna do blue team stuff as a soc analyst / security engineer) and almost out of an internship!! i have adhd so i have my fingers in a lot of hobbies that i can’t balance at all. right now, i’m into:

🎵 music:

i LOVE albums and love reviewing them (although i’m not exactly good at it) and my favourite artist is björk! my favourite album of all time is imaginal disk by magdalena bay though, and generally i just listen to a lot of art pop. i need to expand my horizons!

📖 reading:

i struggle to make time to read because of adhd, but reading is a passion i’ve had for a very long time. right now my favourite book is the spear cuts through water by simon jimenez (literary fantasy) and you can also follow me on librarything if you wanna see the other books ive read - that’s where i track my books and occassionally review them

🎮 games:

i am not a pro gamer. im so bad at games. love them though. my favourite game of all time is one i actually played less than two months ago - disco elysium. still haven’t really finished it, but i love that game so much. took an entire week out of my life but i don’t regret it! other than that, i end up playing a lot of indie games and a lot of roguelikes and roguelites, even if i’m shit at them

🐉 dungeons and dragons:

i say dnd because i haven’t played any other ttrpgs, but man i love dnd so much. i especially love making characters, and in games i usually try to make characters that feel indian. in dnd there are no restrictions and its so freeing and i get to feel seen with every character i make! right now the two characters i’m playing are oasis whisper, a tabaxi fighter who’s an archaeologist on a mission, and jemadar baru, an ex-military minotaur who’s an enforcer for a gang. the best characters i’ve ever created i think.

👾 pixel art:

you may have seen me occassionally post some pixel art on my old account, and i really want to try and learn, but i got into a bit of a rut. couldn’t really commit to drawing anything, it was super frustrating. my sister has convinced me now that i should try relearning the basics of art in general (since i haven’t done that since my gcses) so hopefully you’ll see some more pixel art from me this year!

other than that, you may also see me occasionally talk about dropout (and also smosh since i’ve been getting into them a lot) and hermitcraft, since that’s generally what my watching habits have gravitated towards. so if you’re into any of those, let’s be mutuals!! also heres my letterboxd, i do watch movies sometimes

you wont see me talk about cyber security that often though, im dumb and there are smarter people here

TLDR: im aen, i do cyber security, i have adhd, and i like music and reading and games and dnd and pixel art and dropout and hermitcraft and a lot of other things

anyway heres the wall of tags, im not skimping on them this time

hey, hi, hello it's my #intro

I made an alt so I can ramble on and on about homestead-y-esque topics because I think building my own irrigation system is a fun time and other stuff that's probably very boring to most of my main account's mutuals. Also my other account only has 500 characters so it's kinda annoying to talk about stuff in depth without taking over the timeline.

probably going to get busier here when spring hits (late April usually for me) but idk, March is all about building a chicken coop!!

I work a full time job and also I'm only 29 so I'm in no rush to finish my homestead. This is a twenty year project and this summer starts year 5 for me, fast progress isn't my style.

So far my partner and I have: built a small attached greenhouse, planted over 300 native shrubs and trees, completely tore out and rebuilt garden beds all around our house, fenced most the land in, and prepped a ~750 saffron bulb field.

This warm season we are focusing on: building a chicken coop and getting chickens, beefing up the southern and western living wind barrier, building the kitchen garden, and redoing/building the permanent irrigation system.
