Maar hoe blijf je op de hoogte van nieuwe video's als je geen #YouTube -account hebt? Is daar een workaround voor? #Invidious liet me hier ook in de steek. #dtv

@TechConnectify Watched this video through #invidious because #YouTube managed to cripple #FreeTube ( a Free / #libre youtube app which does not have recommendation algorithm ) but the only live invidious instance was able to circumvent the issue and now it sort of works.
If Technology Connections will start a #PeerTube I would be so happy.

Ditching Google for search and email is great, but their surveillance advertising infrastructure is how they really monetise us. Something like #AdGuardHome is great way to #degoogle and reduce their ad based revenue.
I also know some computer networking stuffs but meh. It was a setup and forget kind of thing. Updating systems from time to time and disabling #ssh when it isn't necessary. Plus #usbguard I guess. I've hosted my #searxng, #libreddit, #invidious, and #nitter instance locally on the home network but meh. Got too lazy, plus it was expensive to have a server running 24/7. I don't pay the bills.

Now might be good time to repost my article about how to watch #Youtube without ads on Apple TV.
People seems to be more concerned about ads and tracking and big tech companies collecting and selling your data. You can watch Youtube videos without tracking for example via #Invidious . There are other solutions as well, but this is the one I’m using. In the article I explain how I watch Youtube on my Apple TV by using Invidious and an app called #Yattee

@The_Caretaker Is it sustainable? Does it have problems staying functional considering how Google keeps fucking with #invidious?
I try to avoid all YT content as much as possible now that YT has become Tor-hostile while also keeping Invidious hosts down.
It’s worth noting that YT-DLP is in Debian official repos, and Freetube is not. From there, I wonder how Freetube compares. YT-DLP has been rendered useless, at least over tor, whether connecting to Invidious instances or to Google. But it’s an attack on the network by Google so I don’t imagine another app can overcome it.
Leider geht das nicht mehr zuverlässig, seit scheiß Google begonnen hat, #invidious zu bekämpfen (mit absichtlich kompliziertem Code zum Abrufen der Streams, mit lawfare, und jetzt auch mit heftigem Rate-Limiting).
Wüsste nichts, was man da tun kann, als a) die Videos irgendwo zu cachen, b) Leute zu überzeugen, mehr auf Peertube zu veröffentlichen und nicht bei Youtube
Hey #fedibubble, ich würde ja gern mehr #Videos via #Peertube, #Invidious etc teilen statt #Youtube, um Menschen vom Fediverse zu überzeugen, aber in 90% der Fälle kriege ich Fehlermeldungen wie content not available, Wechsle die Instanz, try later. Wer weiß, woran das liegt und wie es behoben werden kann?

I may be a bit more radical than most Internet users, but I refuse to use #YouTube for the same reason I refuse #Chrome: it's #Google.
#Invidious is a very nice condom to use if you want to watch stuff on YouTube without getting screwed over by Google, but Google is fighting it hard so it may not always work.
Using DuckDuckGo, you can also watch YouTube without tracking and commercials.
Invidious is to YouTube what Nitter is to Twitter: An alternative front-end that anybody can run on their own website that lets people watch videos on youtube.com. Note that Invidious instances don't host anything; they just embed videos from youtube.com.
