We usually learn a lot about this on conferences but let's try it here as well:
If you're daily driving #phosh we're keen to here on which phone (or other device)? Which distro do you use and which phosh version are you currently running?

Another #Cellbroadcast bit coming to #phosh / #LinuxMobile. The results of the users choice are set in the modem via a small daemon based on information we're getting from mobile-broadband-provider-info. That way only the tiny UI bit is DE specific, the other bits can be reused on other platforms as is. @devrtz is working on adding persistent storage to keep a message history.
Thanks to @NGIZero for supporting this and @snwh for the UI design.

@MuhammadFreeSoftware @eliasr @Tutanota Please speak for yourself. Lots of us are daily driving #linuxmobile on our devices.
@Tutanota great stuff, but I'd like to see also some real Android alternatives listed, I mean there are also mobile operating systems that are not based on Android. See #LinuxMobile #MobileLinux @linmob #mobian #postmarketOS #pureos #phosh #UbuntuTouch @phosh and so on.
#Newsflash is a great @gnome app that supports synchronization with #NextCloud #News. The new 4.0 Beta release now works much better on my @furilabs #FLX1 phone. Especially the web view is so much smoother.
Always nice to see Sailfish OS getting a shoutout from Research Engineering at the Turing in their FOSDEM 2025 recap. A small nod that means a lot in a sea of Android and iOS.
Full recap here. Great read with personal reflections and devroom gems: https://medium.com/@turinghut23/highlights-and-reflections-from-fosdem-2025-987fabd26932

So yesterday I saw a @postmarketOS toot about their web flasher for Android devices, and I thought - how hard would it be to make one for L5? Turns out - not hard at all. Here it is booting Jumpdrive.
Some caveats:
- requires permission setting on Linux I may work out-of-box on other platforms though
- it's sloooow, but there's hope: https://github.com/WebAssembly/design/issues/1271
- asks 5 times to allow access to the device. Could go down to 3, but no less than that.
Just used the Web flasher for the first time and it worked pretty much flawlessly! Using a #OnePlus6T :)
(Private Chromium/Brave session did not work though)
It's a very convenient way to update/flash your phone and I love that I can run #docker containers in #PostmarketOS now!
