And onwards to the lynxes. They were a cuddle pile for most of the day. Until it started raining quite a bit, then one of them started moving.
I am a bit unhappy with the lighting for the close ups, but I guess it is to be expected in the rain.
Also, I want to pet the kitty. (2/5)

A fun fact for anyone not familiar with North American wildlife. The Lynx, despite being one of the most successful hunters in the north, has almost no sense of smell and has very limited sight.

This is primarily due to the fact that during the cold winters, smells don't travel and things don't rot, and so having a keen sense of smell is not a useful adaptation for them. And their vision is dialed in for movement, so, stationary objects become difficult to see.

:boost_request: bienvenus :)

Our web pages have several "alternate" `<link>` elements in them e.g. `<link data-rh="true" rel="alternate" hrefLang="en-gb" href="bbc.co.uk/news"/>`. Each `<link>` appears as simply as "alternate" in Lynx.

Does anyone know if there's a way to get Lynx to show something more useful than "alternate" via, I assume, another attribute? Surely it's possible to tell the reader what the alternate content is?

"Coined by the philosopher Glenn Albrecht in 2003 solastalgia emphasizes the psychological impact of environmental degradation. The deeper sense of unease and grief when one’s familiar environment is being altered or degraded over time or devastated in sudden disasters.

Sadly, this is something that more and more people are experiencing and will continue to increase. I came across the word several years ago and was deeply moved when I undertood the meaning of it and thought it is a very useful word. To have language in difficult times, written, spoken or a visual language through art is important." @veganflava Aug. 22, 2025

"Lauren Harrison, a sheep farmer from Hadrian’s Wall, said: “I saw in Europe that it’s possible to live alongside lynx. The risks to livestock can be minimal and there are so many positives. Tourism is an obvious one, but I also think a more balanced ecosystem is beneficial to farmers"

Fingers crossed this goes ahead.

Honestly… what hard hearted soulless moron would go for this? As if being an unwanted, unloved pet isn’t bad enough.
May I suggest:
A.) Not keeping a lynx in a zoo.
B.) Giving unwanted pets to the thousands of people that want them.
