I'm looking for people to try out a new version of Base, my SQLite editor for macOS.
If you'd like to give it a go, send me a private message with your email address (only used for TestFlight, no junk).
Boosts appreciated.
“Specifically, sunsetting our use of TCA and SwiftUI to make Dia lightweight, snappy, and responsive.”
Looks like the Browser Company moved away from SwiftUI. Personally I never used TCA but why does it lead to sluggishness?

Adding a custom font to a macOS app works a bit differently than on iOS, and it’s not particularly well documented. I wrote up the steps that worked for me, both as a reference for myself and in case it helps other developers looking to use a custom font in their Mac apps: https://nilcoalescing.com/blog/EmbeddingACustomFontIntoAMacOSAppBundle/

jfc. I just noticed there's a promotedcontentd in macos? da fuq?
SwiftUI lists and tables on macOS struggle with large datasets, prompting me to design a custom scrollable list view with efficient view recycling for optimal performance. Details in my latest post:

KeyStash 0.4.0, with a simplified user interface, is out now! Bringing it one step closer to 1.0.
This version requires MacOS 15 Sequoia.
If you're using KeyStash and plan on upgrading to macOS Sequoia, this update will prevent the app from freezing on the new OS. It also introduces a very minor redesign to work around some visual bugs.
Hey friends, anyone with access to a Mac, minimal #MacOSdev skills (and a love of teaching #Python, perhaps?) would like to help me package a customized #ThonnyIDE that includes pre-installed #py5 & #pymunk?
I love* how — despite running on a top-of-the-line laptop that came out less than a month ago and having tons 64 GB RAM to work with — Slack still seems completely incapable of resizing its window contents smoothly.

Of course, you'll always be able to buy it from GitHub as well.
Beyond mere historical happenstance, is there a well-founded reason why #macOS does not offer Dynamic Type?
I would have thought some users might prefer text to be larger without necessarily wanting to change their screen resolution? #accessibility #a11y #macOSDev
