Finished this up on my livestream yesterday. I think I had computer problems that were causing MakerTube to freak out a bit… I re-uploaded the recording, so the creation of this piece is all there now.

Hi! I'm migrating my posts from one instance to another, sorry if you're seeing this one again!

Old makes continued! I made the Coral mermaid by La Crocheteria, but changed the hair so it would look like my niece whom I made it for. 😊 She got to pick the hair colour! I made the hair with instructions from a book by Khuc Cay. There were a few mistakes along the way, such as using a different weight of yarn for the tail and scales, which meant that the finished doll didn't come out quite right. However this is my first human amigurumi and maybe only the second in total, so I would say the end result isn't too bad! Niece seemed to like it and that's what matters the most.

Please take note of the belly button, which was a very important addition by me.

My OCs, Coralie and Pete. (2022)
They initially were my characters from The Sims 3, but I decided to keep them and give them a proper story.

Coralie is a daughter of a genie and her only dream was to become a mermaid, but she can't grant herself a wish and her mother refuses to do it, so she was just sad and tailless until Pete decided to buy her a functional mermaid costume and make her childhood dream come true... (and he didn't want to waste his wish on turning her into a fish, let's be real)

This mermaid-like creature with a bifurcated tail on McCormick House on Darnley Street in Glasgow is one of the city's more unusual architectural sculptures. Reminiscent of the logo used by Starbucks, such two-tailed mermaids are often described as sirens or gorgona from Greek mythology. Other evidence suggests that mermaids themselves were originally depicted as having two tails, and that our current one-tailed versions are a more recent invention.
