#microbit

I pulled out my #microbit to play while my kids were monopolising my Nintendo Switch to play #Minecraft cooperatively.

When they ran out of screen time, my eldest laid claim to my micro:bit, too, now working on a "radio" game which involves passing messages between two micro:bits. Iterative, joyful improvements!

Meanwhile, youngest is out at Fire Club spinning #poi with husband, which I'm sure they're both enjoying.

Definitely winning at this #parenting malarkey this evening!

A friend shared some videos she did for the #microbit and I watched them with my 7-year-old who got super enthusiastic and wanted one. My micro:bit arrived the very next day and he IMMEDIATELY got stuck in trying to code with it; he'd done some #scratch at school so was comfortable with the visual coding. He followed the hot potato tutorial and improved it with his own sound effects. This is already an absolute win!

Looks like I'm going to need to buy another for myself, this one is his now!

(I don't mention my day-job related stuff here much but...)

US-based teachers and librarians can receive $500+ of our micro:bit kits for free.

@villares Fun thing to do with things like the #microbit too using things like the accelerometer and other inputs like light sensor and sound level.

I did something for #genuary using #Processing and sound levels a couple of years ago I think. There are a couple of prompts for 2025 that might be fun to control with hardware.
