I have to limit the quantity of mustard in my green manure mixes as they are quickest to germinate and can take over some of the others. </p><p>When the mustard has been knocked back by the frosts I find the hollow stalks that remain are great wintering habitat for the ladybirds. Broadfork<p>I made a start clearing the front of the plot yesterday and turned one of the compost heaps. Some of the compost has been used to mulch the bed. </p><p>I’m looking forward to spending some more time on the plot today. Broadfork<p>I finally got around to moving the compost pile for the first time in 6 weeks. I started making this compost in December and it’s looking pretty nice. Richard Rollinson<p>After two weeks in the tumbler, the grass clipping-leaf mold mix is ready enough to be brought out to use as mulch around the tomatoes. BeetBear rolled up his sleeves and got to work. At least the rain has stopped and the sun is shining today. Richard Rollinson<p>Finally got my compost tumbler going. I mainly use it to process grass clippings and shredded leaves from Autumn into mulch for the garden. As mostly all of us around here observe no-mow-May (for various reasons), grass clippings have been scarce.
