The Broader Push to Rewrite #History.

Israel's assault on #Palestinian #heritage goes beyond fabricated #archaeological narratives—it’s a #systematic effort to erase history and consolidate control. Here are more key aspects of the campaign:

#Looting of #WestBank #Antiquities :

For decades, #Israel has #exploited the occupied territories' rich archaeological sites, #smuggling thousands of #artifacts to build its #colonial narrative. The new bill seeks to #institutionalize this #theft, granting #extremist officials unchecked authority over excavation and #HeritagePreservation in Palestinian areas.

The Role of the Israeli Antiquities Authority:

Under the guise of #AcademicResearch, the #IsraeliAntiquitiesAuthority frequently removes artifacts from the West Bank, exhibiting them in Israeli #museums without acknowledging their Palestinian origins. This process not only strips Palestinians of their #cultural history but also bolsters Israel’s claim to the land.

Settler-Led Excavations:

Settler organizations like #Elad are at the forefront of #illegal excavations, particularly in East #Jerusalem. These digs disrupt Palestinian neighborhoods, displace families, and create #tourist sites glorifying biblical narratives while erasing the #multicultural history of the region.

Linking Settlements to #BiblicalClaims:

Israeli settlement expansion is increasingly tied to archaeological claims. By declaring areas with supposed biblical significance, such as #Hebron or #Shiloh as part of #Jewish heritage, the #llegalOccupation justifies #annexation and denies Palestinians access to their land.

The International Fallout:

Despite warnings from Israeli #archaeologists and global institutions, the government continues its #unilateral moves. If the bill passes, Israel risks severe isolation, as #CulturalTheft violates international conventions, including #UNESCO protection of #CulturalHeritage during conflicts.

These moves are not just an assault on history—they are an extension of the colonial project, reshaping the narrative to legitimize an occupation that erases Palestinian identity. The stakes go beyond antiquities; they encompass the right of a people to their past, present, and future.

For Hogan, the message of the San Patricios and the invasion comes down to tolerance. “Once we start teaching history solely from a nationalistic level, we lose a sense of tolerance. ‘Why should we be tolerant? What does it profit us to be multicultural?’ We need to be taught those things. As long as that fear exists, there will be violence and there will be wars.”

Marriage immigrant women in #Korea and a Philippine-born naturalized Korean lawmaker called for substantial measures to guarantee their #PoliticalParticipation to better represent 2.5 million people from #multicultural backgrounds.

Korea has seen a dramatic jump over the years in the number of marriage immigrants — from 619 in 1990 to 136,752 in 2022, the group noted. #SouthKorea #Philippines #PoliticalRepresentation

I have written the best book ever written by any human or non-human in this dimension. But I can't find an agent. It's YA spec fic; I've already written the sequel, and have kid-tested the book & only received positive feedback. Please contact me if you are an agent or publisher interested in looking at my book.

Elevator pitch: 1970s midwest punk rock teenagers gain superpowers and save the universe with the help of underwater dogs.

I'm putting the finishing touches on my #multicultural / #interfaith #calendar so it will be ready in time for the #NewYear.

I started with the months with fewest #holidays: Shvat, Sivan, Cheshvan, Kislev, and Tammuz (for those of you who use the Pope Gregory calendar, those fall around: January, August, December, June, and July).

Now I'm just doing the hard part, #TheHolidaySeason: Adar A & B and Nisan (~ March-May on Pope Gregory's calendar), when EVERYONE has an important #holiday or two.

Hall’ s creations are colorful picture books that celebrate diversity, uniqueness and families. I love the multicultural representation : children from all backgrounds and families from all around the world are shown celebrating or doing everyday activities.

To warm up for my gig as a Heritage Festival entertainment judge, rewatching this fantastic video by my one-time Edmonton Journal colleague, Ryan Jackson. It so perfectly captures the magic of Edmonton and of the festival. I’ll shoot my own pictures and videos tomorrow. But they won’t come close to this. Click and I promise you’ll see something truly extraordinary. vimeo.com/136469731 #Edmonton #yeg #EdmontonJournal #HeritageFestival #dance #multicultural #multiculturalism #Canada

Dear Frustrated,

We are lucky to live in a #multicultural #society where we have people from all different #religions in our schools and summer #camps— including Christians! Although it can be hard for us to understand why someone might attribute religious meaning to #cultural #observances like Tu B’Av, nonetheless, we should also be welcoming and accommodating to people with religious beliefs that preclude them from celebrating certain #secular #American #holidays.

@liztai As a Canadian living beside the US but having your home in a #multicultural setting has been a challenge. The response from Americans when travelling in the US is startling at times. Everyone has a national identity. In todays world it must be much more fluid & bendable. #Cultures are unique, languages are exciting, foods are a delight. When one can learn & cultivate an appreciation for what you never grew up with, that is probably the best way to develop educating yourself.
