Anarchist groups claim responsibility for Cannes and Nice blackouts.

Nearly 45,000 homes were temporarily without electricity on Saturday night after a fire was started at an electrical transformer in western Nice.

Two anarchist groups in France have now claimed responsibility for the power outage. But the groups didn’t explain why they wanted to target the Cannes Film Festival or industrial sites.

After Cannes, Nice is targeted by electrical sabotage.

An electrical transformer was set on fire in what appears to be an act of vandalism.

Some 45,000 homes were temporarily without power in Nice and some neighbouring towns.

Power was restored by early Sunday morning.
