EpiscoGrrl
There are 3 questions for reflection in this section of #ContemplativeKnitting The first is: how big is your #orbit (meaning the world you see & interact with on a daily/regular basis)?

My answer is twofold: 1) my orbit isn’t as big as it used to be & 2) it’s not as big as I want it to be. There may be a third facet in there, too. As I discovered recently when my dad died, my orbit is bigger than I realize.

And honestly, I’m just leaving those answers there, ATM because, although I read the section days ago & have been thinking about my answers since then. I still feel the need to #contemplate it a little longer. Nevertheless, he was absolutely adamant than he could plot stuff in the sky on a flat polar graph "directly" and preserve both size and shape

I think I finally stymied him with this #math thought experiment:

You have a flat polar graph that represents the azimuth/elevation dome over your location.

Draw a line directly across this graph. That line is 1/2 of a great circle around the original sphere.

Now draw a line around the edge of the graph where elevation = 0. That line is also a great circle.

Since this was a perfect sphere, 2x the first line == the second line.

*One the graph* this a diameter and a circumference. C = 2D? I don't think so.
