David_grün
We made the most of the good weather today on our Scotland adventure, and took the ferry from Orkney main Island to Westray. The goal of the trip was to see some puffins and maybe some seals. Goal achieved! But there are some other things on the island, so we also checked out the ruin of Noltland Castle. Well worth the visit, and a nice view from there, also.
#fensterfreitag
#scotland
#Orkney

Thousands of participants, officials and visitors are expected for the week-long event. It was a beautiful, moody day for it and the five of us cleaned up 41kg of plastic. This is a meditative yet social activity. I actually enjoyed it, though the reality was grim. The overwhelming detritus were plastic nets and ropes from the fishing industry. The large brown crystal is kaersutitic amphibole, the smaller clear crystal near the bottom of the photo is olivine, & the large greyish crystal on the right is clinopyroxene (with a hole in it!).
