Now that I have shed last week's heavy cold I can really appreciate this stunning orchid that we bought when we visited Orchid Paradise. Not only are the colours so gorgeous that I can't help looking at it but - it's delightfully scented. The fragrance fills the room. I love a fragrant orchid!
(For anyone wondering, this is Phalaenopsis Bolgheri.)

A mini yellow phalaenopsis orchid bloom to brighten up the day

This Phalaenopsis is showing off with two massive, pure white blooms, and a third bud just about to join the display. The contrast between its delicate petals and the deep green leaves makes it a true showstopper. Nature’s elegance at its finest!

Pic 4 shows how I have the orchids up in trees. They just stick out from the wall of green.

Wenn man zu Hause #Phalaenopsis hat, bei denen die Wurzeln aus dem Topf raus kommen, ist das nicht schlimm.
 
Ihre Wurzeln sind von Velamen ( eine graue Silberhaut) umgeben. Diese schützt die Wurzel und sorgt dafür, dass Feuchtigkeit optimal aufgenommen wird.
Wenn die Wurzeln hellgrüne Spitzen haben, heißt das, sie ist am Wachsen. 
Die Wurzel wächst am Vegetationspunkt solange bis sie ausgewachsen ist oder ihr irgendwas nicht mehr passt. 
Diese jungen Wurzeln zeigen der Pflanze geht es gut.

I'm happy to see that the 2 fancy phalaenopsis orchids I got recently are blooming again. This tells me that I picked a good-enough spot for them.

I set them down in the branches of a tangle of waiwi and other stuff (pic 3), and covered their bases with "forest canopy mix" (a mix of stuff that simulates the stuff that would accumulate on the roots of a plant that's nestled in a crook of branches in the canopy: moss, dried leaves, bits of bark, etc.).

One is in the trees at eye level and one is a bit above eye level. Both of them have their bases mostly in shade, but not completely under the canopy. Both of them put flower spikes out toward the sun. This strategy makes sense to me if you're fishing for pollinators: big, splashy flowers that are very differently-colored from the surrounding greenery, facing toward the sun, where there are no other plants and where a pollinator might spot you easily.

Pic 3 shows the "plant wall" that they're in. Can you spot where the flowers stick out?

Unusual for all four of our phals to be in flower simultaneously. I only bought one of them - the rest have all been gifts!
