Bifid Palm in #frenchguiana :smug:

In Cayenne, a rare bifid palm stood in Place des Palmistes. Its trunk, a stipe actually, was made of fibers instead of lignin, meaning it did not thicken over time and classified the palm as a plant, not a #tree. The marks on the stipe can indicate growth rate and sometimes species. This specimen (center), cut down in 1955 at the age of 134, had split into two due to a mutation. :bongoCat:

It's great and I think perfectly fits the anti-corporate anti-social media vibe here on the fedi. A fun hobby to have contacts all across the globe. And it's a good couple's activity, too. @Jillianmarisa is hooked as well.
