My one win of today is that I've finished my first proper #pyrography project. I have a few "boring" things to work on like mending, treating and then pattern-burning chopping boards. They're uninspiring objects but good things to learn and test with.

There's plenty here I could do better on, but overall I'm happy with it.

Think I had a delayed reaction to the later night proofreading for wifey, so I massively overslept, which meant too much sleep, which makes my neck and shoulder pain worse, yippie!

However, I stayed off my computer so I could make progress on my #pyrography project. which is starting to come together now

My non-blog week continues. Earlier, I made some progress on the end project for my #pyrography mini-course (the dragon outline).

I have a lot left to do on it, but it took me two attempts to burn an outline I wasn't completely dissatisfied with.

I'm now currently proofreading some of my fiction-writing. But my #Fibro pain is still really high, so I'll end up in a game soon.

#Pyrography practice tonight. Needed to focus on something after a day of really bad Fibromyalgia pain. I'll be heading into a game shortly, though.

Here's my practice, though. This wood's too soft (I've now found out) as it pockmarks easily, even at low temperatures.

A few years ago I created a few of these hexagonal bee boxes, they are a pain in the arse to get to tessellate down and around the sides so I’ve not done one since but I’m thinking about it for the art auction. What do you think? #art #wildlife #bees #craft #handmade #pyrography #burn #honey

Needed to calm myself down, so had some time practising #pyrography. My hand pain had kicked off now, so it's time to stop.

But trying different lines, different angles etc.

It's relaxing because you have to do it slowly.

I've not been on my computer today, as this bug made my head sensitive. But I've been practising #pyrography again. It's nice to have that singed wood smell around.

This is just practice before doing the final project for the mini #woodburning course wifey bought me.

I had some alone time after house jobs and family time where I transferred my #Krita #drawing to paper, then also roughly created the background/void space.

This is my project for the #Pyrography short course wifey bought me. Because the end game is wood burning, my pencil lines don't need to be exact. Just good enough.

I live on the edge of the Peak District, the oldest national park in England, UK. I'm originally from the US; I started immigrating in 2010.

I'm an entrepreneur, a freelance service provider. I'm just pivoting my business from bookkeeping to data analysis. My degree is in mathematics, and I'd like to do more math, so I came to this mastodon server.

I enjoy #walking in the countryside, #reading (including Terry Pratchett, Jonas Jonasson, Jasper Fforde; also non fiction), #cooking , #baking , #pyrography , and more. I am #spiritual . Hubby and I are gradually doing up our newly-bought home, so #diy features occasionally.

So "hi" all. I finally made it to bed by 6am after the proofreading of wifey's uni assignment. This coupled with a new cold & usual pain & fatigue meant I finally made it out of bed at 5pm.

So I'm totally messed up now. I can't recover the productivity, so I'm going to do some drawing then play FFXIV, I think.

And try again tomorrow on the blog/writing.

Anyone here had experience with #pyrography / #woodburning tools? I basically just irreparably broke my starter kit because a nib snapped while inserted into it.

So, I'm looking for recommendations. The example below shows I'm still fairly beginner-ish (ignore the fact that a few lines are in pen, I needed to finish the pattern as I broke the burner towards the end of burning it...).
