Life can be incredible sometimes. I post frequently on RedNote/Xiaohongshu. Last night I read a poem I'd written in 1971. Great reaction to it including this bit of text from a Chinese poet, Su Shi. It's from 1082 but the sentiment carries through the centuries. I'll read more of his work and profusely thank the follower who commented with this on my post. I call it serendipity. We also found a vulnerability in the Android version that enables network attackers to learn the contents of files on users’ devices. We disclosed the vulnerability issues to RedNote, and its vendors NEXTDATA, and MobTech, but did not receive a response from any party. This report underscores the importance of using well-supported encryption implementations, such as transport layer security (TLS). We recommend that users who are highly concerned about network surveillance from any party refrain from using RedNote until these security issues are resolved.
During the #TikTokBan some have characterized #RedNote as an opportunity for #Chinese and western netizens to finally talk to each other, I wonder if anything came out of that? Because from my experience I see that some #international #students (especially Chinese, but certainly applicable to others as well) - already in the West and have little language barrier - don't meaningfully interact outside of their ethnic groups (beyond necessity), and the cause of that should be explored.

I've been watching many videos of North-Americans suffering from Culture Shock after joining #RedNote. Even if you are not interested in #China, I encourage you to do something similar and learn about any other country of your choosing. It is always an eye-opening and enriching experience. Looks like RedNote/Xiaohongshu is officially on the radar of JFHQ-DODIN. We got a list today of domains to block and scans to run to identify any GFE that has Red Note. TikTok is still on the blocked list.
