On 13 June 2025, retired Colonel Richard Kemp appeared on BBC Radio’s Stephen Nolan Show to discuss Israeli military strikes on

Listeners were not told that Kemp is a director and trustee of UK-AWIS, a British charity that raises money to support the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF).

Not surprising - in line with a curious absence of any information about the ‘think tanks’ rolled out as ‘experts’

A quotation from Molly Ivins

That’s why it’s called Establishment journalism. You concentrate on the people at the top, the people with power; you watch, you study how they make their moves, you get fascinated by it, and pretty soon you can’t see anything else — just the top, just the power. And the others, the people, the readers, matter so little that you don’t even bother to let them know what’s going on. You start to think like the people you cover. It can happen on any beat — business, police, politics, education. The stuff you want is from the top — you want to quote the chief, the superintendent, the chairman of the board. There are no reliable sources who earn less than $10,000 a year.

"There are several overlapping groups of people who, probably for different reasons, are more likely to prefer news that shares their point of view:
(a) the ideological and politically engaged;
(b) young people, especially those who rely mainly on social media for news;
(c) women; and
(d) less socioeconomically advantaged groups."

"In markets dominated by fewer brands — often publicly funded ones such as the BBC — respondents in that market also tend to express higher levels of preference for impartiality." In Britain, where respondents use an average of four news brands, the lowest number across the 40 countries studied, 62% of respondents say they prefer news displaying no point of view.

"Buried in the messages between National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth, and other cabinet members is a horrible demonstration of narrative engineering.

"While the legacy media fixates on ‘classified information’, the real story is actually not the incompetence of these people but instead how they casually discussed spinning the bombing of Yemen—an already battered and famine-ravaged nation—into a palatable story for the American and global public. Let’s have a look":

"Political data site FiveThirtyEight being shuttered amid sweeping ABC News layoffs"

I'd love to know exactly when this was decided and when this was announced.

The polling data disappeared off the main site just hours after Trump's lines crossed into net disapproval. The main site was still there, but the polling was gone leaving the left column a bit empty.

A few hours after that the main page went away.

"AP (2/4/25) evidently needed e work of 10 reporters to produce “Elon Musk Tightens Grip on #Federal #Government as #Democrats Raise Alarms”.. “in charge of retooling the federal government.” Is tt a thing? #AP suggests we believe tt it is..
