Finally, it's done. Shoveled some games, demos, and tools onto it to showcase the PicoGUS in its various modes. Wavetable is working great, too. 🙂

Windows 95 runs particularly well on the system, despite "only" being a DX4-100. I guess 32 MB RAM, a rather fast hard disk supporting block mode, and a graphics chip with a blitter help quite a bit.

My latest artwork is a shinto shrine inspired by the town of Sawara, Japan. Also, the first pixel art I've made in Krita on Linux! I could never get Clip Studio Paint to work with Lutris so knowing I can transfer this workflow is awesome.

Another thing I wanted to share out of the stuff on my Switch:

I've been using emulators since forever, but this is still, by far, the best emulation collection release I have ever seen. The whole interface is amazing. You're comfortably in your room as quiet ambient sounds come in from outside (in day you hear cars quietly passing by and birds) with game posters on the walls and such and a shelf full of Genesis/Megadrive games that it actually puts IN a console shown on screen, then it plays on a TV on screen. (It can be set to load games directly in fullscreen which I recommend, but it was neater to show it merely zooming in on the virtual TV for the clip.)

Menateus is the official 1996 puzzle game for EXPO 2000, developed by Rauser Advertainment GmbH. In this educational adventure, you travel through time and space to save the planet from indifference, solving puzzles in futuristic locations like the Cyberdome and the Palace of Elements.

I think I have found a programming language that hurts my brain more than Perl.

I took Richard Garriott's BASIC code from 1977 and did as little to it as I could to get it to work with Applesoft BASIC. You can copy the above code and paste into the Applesoft BASIC in Javascript emulator.

Do not ask for instructions!
And you have to name your character
SHAVS

Speaking of BASIC. Someone should write a code linter for BASIC. It could check for errant GOTOs and the like.

For convenience I've made a quick page for buying some of my #SAMCoupe items with UK shipping included in the price. I'll get more added shortly, but just now there's the recent issues of SAM Revival magazine, pre-order the next issue (27, with The Lower Caverns on disk) and my gold plated SAM PCB keyrings, which help add a few pounds to the development kitty of my SAM projects.

I finally assembled a racking setup that allowed me to get all the CRT TVs organized - except for the two in the house for active use.

All of them are rescues, and many still need more thorough testing or calibration, but they're all shelved and accessible now.

One day, I'm hoping to do an interesting combined display with it, like Matrix-style raining text or something kinda spooky for Halloween trick-or-treaters.
