Sunguramy :nb_lily:
Driving in Huntsville this week and the rain broke for a second. Blue sky and sun showed up, and as if on cue, a rainbow appeared over the Saturn V rocket. This rocket put us on the Moon!

The SLS is the new rocket for taking us to the Moon, and Mars, and beyond. It is designed for long space flights. This is what the government wants to cancel. The SLS is flying, it's first launch went perfectly. No explosions in the sky. Just a boring nominal launch. This is because of the dedication and safety focus of NASA and the hard working individuals to ensure the culture of safety is promoted, hard lessons remembered, and protocols adhered to.

I have hope we will soar again. The sky agrees with me.

(Please keep telling your reps and congressfolk to fund NASA, and to keep the SLS! Canceling it now when it's tested, ready, and flying is what would be a huge waste.)

#NASA #space #flight #engineering #science #technology #rainbow #nature #Rocket #RocketCity #Alabama

Terry Hancock (Director/Producer)
I picked a pretty generic "video static" effect to go with this. I just wanted to give it some texture, and communicate that it's a video screen (at least at the end of the animation -- it starts out as a direct, fantasy camera PoV. AI6YR Ben
Not confirmed, but if you hear a jarring crash of a space capsule descending into the atmosphere tonight at 2:31am, it appears SpaceX is (unusually, I might add) planning on landing a rocket very close to shore in Los Angeles/Ventura County. David Hembrow
The cycle-path over the Afsluitdijk might have been "temporarily" closed since 2019 but some things are still possible. For instance, we can fire Israeli rockets from it, paid for with Dutch taxes and produced by a company heavily involved in the Israeli genocide being carried out against the Palestinian people.

https://nos.nl/artikel/2574464-rakettest-op-de-afsluitdijk-elders-kun-je-niet-zulke-afstanden-schieten

In the UK, the peaceful protest group Palestine Action was recently proscribed as a "terrorist" group. Palestine Action have in the past damaged property belong to Elbit Systems because that company produces weapons which have been used to kill Palestinians.

Though the majority of the Dutch population wants to see our government take action against Israel, our government continues to buy many weapons from Israeli companies, including from Elbit Systems who produced the rockets which have just been fired from the Afsluitdijk.

And of course there's still no sign of when exactly that cycle-path might re-open. "Mexico’s president, Claudia Sheinbaum, has threatened legal action over falling debris and contamination from billionaire Elon Musk’s #SpaceX #rocket launches across the border in the #UnitedStates. Mexico’s government was studying which international laws were being violated in order to file 'the necessary lawsuits' because 'there is indeed contamination', Sheinbaum told her morning news conference on Wednesday.”

The Guardian · Mexico’s president threatens to sue over SpaceX debris from rocket explosionsBy Guardian staff reporter
Continued thread

Video from LabPadre, the company that monitors #SpaceX activities at #Starbase, appears to show 2 major explosions — the first near the rocket's nose, & the second on the left side of the spacecraft. The #Starship was being filled with liquid oxygen & high-energy methane fuel at the time the detonations happened.

Starship is comprised of a #spacecraft & a Super Heavy #rocket that together are intended to be a reusable system that can carry cargo & crew to the moon & Mars.
