The management of common pool resources depends crucially on the existence and effectiveness of the #rules and institutions to govern their use.
For #space activities, this translates into human activities potentially littering Earth’s orbits beyond sustainable limits, creating #SpaceDebris that could reduce the value of space activities by increasing the risk of damaging collisions 💥 and requiring mitigation actions. oecd.org/content/dam/oecd/en/p

Thursday Rant:

I'm surprised there aren't more traffic fatalities than there are, exploding Cybertrucks notwithstanding.

There's now electric scooters, eBikes and some kind of monowheel land board of sorts people are riding in the streets and on sidewalks with no regard to traffic direction, signals or lights/signs.

In a vehicle turning left at an intersection? Watch out for zippy coming from your behind, sailing through the intersection, on the sidewalk, on a bike, going the wrong direction (if the sidewalk was actually part of the road) Light's green. Just Go. From wherever!

It's bad enough one can't just pull out on a green light anymore, they have to look both ways first so as not to be t-boned by someone trying to make it through on yellow. Now, one also has to wait when turning right on red for the runners that just don't feel like running in place while that glowing red palm is staring directly at THEM.

Eff the rules. Eff 'em all!

That's what insurance is for.

And why is insurance so expensive I wonder?

Maby the point here is that the concept of "no power" in #anarchism isn't understood profoundly enough often.

Of course there is a power-structure even in the most "anarchist" community. And of course power is needed to eventually enforce commonly agreed #rules upon those who aren't willing to follow them.

But that power isn't stable. It's subject to constant negotiation.

So the very thing other societies fear the most - is THE constitutive element of #anarchist communities.

“It turns out #Australia has no mandatory #rules for ensuring smart devices aren’t able to be #hacked. … This means that companies that make devices for sale in Australia, including #Ecovacs and other home #robotics companies, aren’t required to test that their products are safe from even the simplest of vulnerabilities”

Internet of shit.
