Question to the home lab and self hosted communities: what's the go-to cloud backup service these days? I've been using Backblaze, but there have been some controversies about their future. Are those irrelevant?
Additional context: I need to run backups both from Linux (doesn't matter the tool) and Synology (their native backup tool).
TIA (thanks in advance)
What are some of your favourite lesser known awesome lists that are useful for selfhosting?
Finally found a couple minutes to write a #Kubernetes CronJob to sync my DNS records using DNSControl, including private ingresses. Public ingresses are thorny for some reason that I haven't tracked down yet but I'm sure is incredibly idiosyncratic.
@mostol the ones you typed and I’ve also found the people following #selfhosted and #homelab being super receptive and cool
@LoganFive #synology #Beestation or its more larger new addition, the #BeestationPlus
3 step setup, 2 mobile apps almost no configuration from the user side.
This is your casual reminder to #selfhost At least that what you are comfortable with
#selfhosting is about being independent. About owning your data. About reclaiming the 'net and decentralizing it. It is about taking control. Being able to do things the way you see fit. And it is about breaking free from subscriptions and from big tech which is #enshittifying like there is no tomorrow.
Go #selfhosted the way you see fit. In small steps, one platform at a time - or with a head first dive if you are feeling adventurous. Share your experiences, write a blog about it, create a video or post about it on the Fediverse.
It most definitely is not too late to revolt. To give big tech the middle finger. Firmly stand your ground. Be a rebel.

It’s not a proper rack or anything special, but it’s a start!

It's been on my list to install and check out for a while, but yowza #Immich looks like a very polished #SelfHosted apps for photos. Web UI looks great. iOS app looks neat too. And comes at a great time now that I'm eagerly #DeBigTeching myself. Now uploading my 40k picture backlog to it, going quiet quickly since it's all local on my LAN. https://immich.app
Manyfold v0.117.0 is out, with a new organisation feature for merging together models (as in folders of files, not the 3d model files themselves); that should help to keep your archive under control!
