Damson 🌱<p>Here are four of the most exciting insect sightings we had while I was on my fedi break (and thank you <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://flipping.rocks/@lemondisco" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>lemondisco</span></a></span> for letting me post your photos):</p><p>1. Tansy Beetle (Chrysolina graminis): We'd previously seen just one tansy beetle ever, but on the day this photo was taken we saw six! Tansy heaven 💚 </p><p>2. Rosemary Beetle (Chrysolina americana): I've wanted to see one of these for a while, as I really like their maroon-and-green striped colouring. There were tons of these on the rosemary plants in the herb garden at York Cemetery.</p><p>3. Hairy Shield Bug eggs (Dolycoris baccarum): We've had the adult bugs in our garden for a while, but getting to see the eggs is a real treat, especially since these are on a plant right next to our front door. Can't wait to see them hatch!</p><p>4. Woundwort Shield Bug (Stagonomus venustissimus): new to us, and so pretty! These are so small I actually thought it was an instar of a different species, not an adult. A tiny cutie :blobaww: </p><p><a href="https://flipping.rocks/tags/insects" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>insects</span></a> <a href="https://flipping.rocks/tags/beetles" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>beetles</span></a> <a href="https://flipping.rocks/tags/bugs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>bugs</span></a> <a href="https://flipping.rocks/tags/shieldbugs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>shieldbugs</span></a></p>
