This seagull portrait was created last year in soft pastels. Gulls can be annoying but there is also something about seeing them flocking around the shore that evokes a longing for the sea.

For this portrait painting of the beautiful tuxedo cat of our neighbour visiting our garden I first painted an abstract background with acrylic colors in shades of purple, pink and blue, then applied some clear gesso to create texture for the fur of the animal. The kitty is painted with soft pastels.
