The voter's' packages for the Aurora Awards are now available. If you're a member of the Canadian Science Fiction and Fantasy Association, you can go download them. If you're not a member, it's only ten bucks to become one, and then you can read all sorts of terrific speculative fiction and poetry. My poem "Angakkuq" is one of the contenders, and I'd be honoured if you read it. Go read, and vote for your favourites! csffa.ca/ #SpeculativePoetry #SpeculativeFiction #AuroraAward #CanLit #IndigenousCreatives #PoetryCommunity #WritingCommunity #IndigenousAuthors

The Aurelias Award (for Australian Speculative Fiction) winners for last year have been announced:

Of these, I’ve only read the fantasy novels — the Sara Douglas Book series award for Shelley Parker-Chan’s Radiant Emperor duology (well-deserved), and “best fantasy novel” winner Thoroughly Disenchanted, which I enjoyed without being particularly blown away — but then I can’t think of any other Australian fantasy from 2024 off the top of my head that should have won instead, and it is actually *set* in Australia, a nice change 😊

Good to see a few self-published winners on the list, too.

"The old person with the glittery dark eyes, Sojourner, shook her head. 'Every piece of art can't contain everything everybody would like to say! I've seen this mistake for sixty years. Our culture as a whole must speak the whole truth. But one object can't! That's the slogan mentality at work, as if there were certain holy words that must always be named.'
