"Blinding Lights" is a song by Canadian singer-songwriter #theWeeknd, from his fourth studio album, #AfterHours (2020). The song was released through XO and #RepublicRecords on November 29, 2019, as the album's second single. It is a #synthpop, #electropop, #newWave, and #synthwave track, which lyrically addresses the importance of a partner, and the desire to see them at night. It was written by the Weeknd, #MaxMartin, #OscarHolter, #Belly, and #DaHeala.

There are times when I think the #synthwave genre has been well and truly played out.

And then there are times L’Avenue comes out with a new album, and I am so here for it. 😄

This time, we’re treated with Tokyo Nights…yes I know, the synthwave / #cyberpunk fixation with Japan is also heavily overplayed, but damnit, this is good, good stuff.

If you ever do decide to play with that palette, even just for quick digital doodles, I'd love to see it. #Synthwave is kind of an alternate history of the 80s, based on idealized images of 1980s science fiction, but it wasn't nearly as prevalent as people think it was.

That's kind of the beauty and allure of it, it's a reimagining of the 1980s as this incredibly forward-looking, futurephile era when it was, in fact, a very hum-drum, wood-paneled, boring and even regressive decade in a lot of ways, in terms of day-to-day life.

Ok, I didn't think this toot was going to turn into an #essay. That was wild. 😂
